PDF purchase orders

Customer PDF purchase orders into Tally, without retyping a line.

Dealers, institutions and large buyers send purchase orders as PDFs from their own purchase systems: their item codes, their layout, often several pages. OrderDak reads them, matches each line to your stock items, checks it, and gives you a Tally Sales Order.

Free during the pilot: no card, no contract.

How PDF orders get into Tally today

  • Someone opens each PDF and types the buyer, PO number, items, quantities and rates into a Sales Order.
  • The buyer's item descriptions and codes don't match your stock item names, so each line is looked up by hand.
  • Scanned PDFs can't be copied from at all.
  • The same PO arrives twice (an email and a WhatsApp forward) and is entered twice.

How OrderDak reads a PDF order

  • Digital PDFs (up to 20 pages) are read from their text; scanned PDFs (up to 10 pages) are read with OCR. Lines read from a scan are flagged for a quick check.
  • The buyer is matched to the party ledger by GSTIN first, then by name. The GSTIN check digit is verified.
  • Each line is matched to a stock item, learning how each buyer describes your products.
  • Rates are checked against your item rates, and the PO number against orders already received, so duplicates are caught.
  • The approved order becomes a Tally Sales Order with the buyer's PO number as the reference: import the file in Tally, or let the OrderDak bridge on your Tally PC create it (beta).

Setting it up

  1. Share your stock items and Sundry Debtors from Tally.

  2. Forward order emails with PDF attachments to your OrderDak address, or drop the PDFs in.

  3. Review the first few orders so OrderDak learns each buyer's item names.

Good to know

  • Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first.
  • Scanned PDFs are limited to 10 pages per order; every line read from a scan goes to review.
  • Handwritten pages inside a PDF are in development.

Questions

Tally already has a PDF import. How is this different?

PDF importers create a draft from one document. OrderDak also learns each buyer's item names, checks rates, credit and duplicate PO numbers before anything reaches Tally, handles Excel, emails and WhatsApp orders in the same inbox, and keeps a record of every change.

Can I try it without signing up?

Yes. The free purchase order PDF to Excel tool reads a PDF order in your browser, and the order desk demo runs on sample data.

Does it work for multi-page POs?

Yes: digital PDFs up to 20 pages and scanned PDFs up to 10 pages per order.
